Half The World Away from the original, more like

It took just 24 hours for The Beatles to record their first LP - I Saw Her Standing There, Please Please Me, Twist and Shout, the lot, 14 songs in total.

It took us nigh on six hours on Saturday to 'put down' (whoooo!) just one - a cock-eyed acoustic version of Half The World Away, recorded at the Futureworks in Manchester.

'Bandmate' Michael Taylor beat me to the punch today and posted his review at The Marple Leaf this morning. It's very accurate and I'm quite taken with the idea of being ever so slightly bonkers.

As he says, Des McDonough definitely carried us through - displaying remarkable patience and unlike me and Michael in the most part, actual musical ability.

He wasn't the only hero though. Big thanks also to Marcus, the sound engineer allocated to us for the day. He's putting some finishing touches to our recording before giving us a final version of the track on CD.

It's 'slated' for release (am I enjoy getting into this lingo a bit too much?) some time this week. If it sounds anywhere near something the three of us are prepared to share with anyone else, Marcus's computer engineering wizardry will have played a part. In fact, if he does make silk purse from the sow's ear we left him with, he probably deserves a place devising tricks for Derren Brown.

Anyway, as if I haven't put myself up for enough ridicule already, I've uploaded some more pics from the session onto Flickr. You'll find them in the set Half The World Away at Futureworks
