Introducing Solly Blog

Although companies and brands are still setting up blogs left, right and centre, it's fair to say that the UK as a whole hasn't embraced blog culture as much as they have in the US.

In fact, there are very few people I know personally who actually blog just for fun/the hell of it/to get things off their chests and, after plugging away on Ear I Am for four years or so, I certainly didn't expect any of my pals to feel the urge to start  publicly venting their spleen now. That's what Facebook's for, it seems. Or the pub.

So you can imagine how delighted I was to recently stumble across the online rantings of my good friend Mark Solomons, joint head honcho of one of the UK's best national news agencies.

I've known Solly for about ten years now. He used to work on the tabloids before he set up SNS with Simon Worthington and I first met him when I was trying to flog PR stories about Whitbread pubs to national newspapers.

I don't have that much to do with him work-wise these days, but we always catch up when he's in Manchester or when I'm able to pop into the Mutant Arms down in that there London.

Anyway, he's a proper funny bloke and his head is full of tales of mad editors, witless PRs and his days as a tabloid hack - all of which should make his new blog, Solly Blog, a must read for anyone with half an interest in this kind of stuff.
